Responsible Gambling

Online casino games are chance-based entertainment built around a house edge. PowerUp ships a full set of player-protection tools, and we want every Canadian member to know how to use them. Below: how to set deposit, wager, session and loss limits, how cool-offs and self-exclusion work, and where to find independent help when you need it.

Tools

Account-level player protection tools

All tools below are accessible from your PowerUp account dashboard under Settings > Responsible Gambling. Decreases apply immediately; increases require a 24-hour cool-off as a safeguard.

Deposit limits

Set a daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can deposit. The cap is hard — once hit, additional deposit attempts are blocked until the period resets.

Wager and loss limits

Daily, weekly or monthly caps on total stake (everything you bet) or net loss (money in minus money out). Useful if you don't want to limit deposits but want a hard ceiling on play.

Session time limits

Auto-logout after a set duration (15, 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes). Reminder pop-ups every 30 minutes regardless of limit, showing time and net spend across the current session.

Cool-off (time-out)

Pause your account for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. During cool-off you cannot deposit, wager or contact promotions — the account is fully frozen. Reversible only after the period ends.

Self-exclusion

Close your account for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or permanently. Marketing communications stop immediately and a request to re-open after the exclusion period is reviewed individually. Self-exclusion at PowerUp is independent of any provincial register — if you need a cross-operator exclusion, the provincial regulator can help.

Reality checks

Pop-ups every 30 minutes showing how long you've been playing and the running net result for the session. Always on, can't be turned off.

Warning signs

When play stops being fun

Online casino games are designed to be entertaining. If you recognise any of these patterns in yourself, take a break and consider using the limits and self-exclusion tools above.

If any of this resonates, please reach out — independent counselling is free, confidential and works.
